The Craftstrom Smart Battery

Solar Power is cheap and widely available, but to get the most out of it, you do want to add power storage. This is due to the simple fact that a solar panel will produce max power around noon, when you aren’t necessarily around to take advantage of it. The average customer would see a dip in demand for power, just as the solar panel shows an increase in production. To counter that effect means using 100% of your solar power, something that we wholly encourage for two reasons:

  1. If you store excess power, rather than selling it to the grid, you increase the value for yourself, since buying electricity is more expensive. The sales price for solar power is typically a lot less than what you pay for grid electricity.
  2. There are a lot of rules & regulations, if you plan on selling your excess solar power to utilities. If you stay in your own home, “behind the meter”, these regulations are of no concern to you.

The battery is managed using the App, where you can decide to either manually program it in a few easy steps, or let our App manage it for you. It charges and discharges using dynamic power, enabling you to use part of the solar panel energy directly in your home, while the remaining part is used to charge the battery. The battery will then help power your appliances at night.

Our plan is not only to help you save money, but also to ensure you get the absolute most out of free solar power. To achieve this, we thought about what we could do to add value for you, the customer. The simple solution is portability. This has two meanings for us:

  1. Being able to move the entire solar + battery system from your current home to the next, without requiring any help. Especially renters will understand this concern. Installing solar arrays in rental homes seldom makes any sense and requires permission from the landlord.
  2. Living in the 21st century also means being connected and having power wherever you go. Want to spend more time outdoors, but still have access to power for work or kids? Need a solution to power an important medical device in case of a power outage? By making our battery limited in size we haven’t just thought of the investment price, but also of balancing a good capacity with portability.

In addition, the battery is modular, which means you can connect up to 4 batteries per power outlet with 1kWh each. Keep one at home, while taking the other to the park!
